Required Dancewear

Look the Part to Play the Role – It is important to dress like a dancer. 

WHAT TO WEAR FOR CLASS

At Caledonia Dance Center, we understand that it is hot during the summer months, but we request that all students wear a cover up to and from dance class in order to model modesty and self respect for all young woman. ***Most shoes for younger students can be ordered at the dance center. It is highly recommended that you purchase these shoes through CDC, as they are the same shoes required for all performances.

Beginner, Beginner Plus, and B++ Red Students Ages 2½ through 2nd Grade

• Hair must be tied back securely (Keep in mind the tumbling portion of class for ages 2 ½ to 5 years. Please avoid hair styles on top of the head)
• Pink leather ballet shoes and, new for 2010, dark tan U-Shell tap shoes (no tap shoes needed for 30 minute ballet classes; tan pull-on jazz shoes for jazz portion of all jazz and ballet/jazz combo classes)
• Pink leotard or dance dress
• Pink tights
• Layers are permitted during colder months

Beginner, Beginner Plus, and B++ Green & Blue Students Grades 3 and Up

• Hair must be tied back securely
• Ballet - Pink leather ballet shoes, Tap - Black U-Shell tap shoes, Jazz - Bloch super jazz tan pull-on shoes Children style #S0401G. Adult style #S0401L
• Black leotard and pink tights for ballet
• Black jazz pants, shorts, or capris may be worn for tap and jazz

Boys

• White t-shirt with black pants
• Revolution’s black oxford tap shoes for tap class
• White leather ballet shoes for ballet class
• Black Revolution jazz boots for hip hop class

All Hip Hop Classes

• Hair must be tied back securely
• Black slip-on jazz shoes (no street shoes)
• Black jazz pants or capris
• Black leotard or black tank top (no midriffs)

Adult Classes

• Hair must be tied back securely
• Tan slip-on jazz shoes for jazz class; Black tap oxford for tap class (Capezio teletone tap shoes are preferred); Pink ballet slippers for ballet
• Athletic capris or pants – black is preferred
• Leotard, T-shirt, or tank top – black is preferred

Ballet Technique, Ballet Choreography Classes

• All girls must wear hair in a bun
• Pink ballet slippers
• Pink tights
• Black leotard (black ballet skirt or ballet shorts may be worn if desired)
• Black sports bras may be worn under leotards. To model modesty, absolutely no regular bras.

Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical Classes

• Hair must be tied back securely
• Tan slip-on Bloch Super jazz shoes for jazz and lyrical class. Children style #S0401G. Adult style #S0401L
• Black tap oxford for tap class – Capezio teletone tap shoes are required and can be purchased at a dance store or online at www.discountdance.com
• Black leotard
• Dance tights – tan or pink
• Black jazz pants, shorts, or capris (ballet shorts are suggested for lyrical)
• Black sports bras may be worn under leotards. To model modesty, absolutely no regular bras.
